It is very difficult to see past the blame that we put on others for voting for the wrong candidate. Because it is almost impossible to put on their shoes and willingly be convinced that this man will be good for myself and my kind, if only we "root out" the "corruption" that is immigrants, the minorities, democrats, and in order to do so, willingly give up all power to the elites. I would have done the same facing a big threat, except in this case, the threat is a lie.
I was lucky to have experienced this perspective back in 2016. To be clear, I did not support Trump at that time, but more so, amused and intrigued by him to bring about change. Nonetheless, I was high into crypto currencies. It started as a side hobby investment, then it turned into a life savings investment, which I was riding the high wave. Although many would consider this act risky, I was 100% convinced that it was the future of money. I rode the wave all to the top, and then held on to it even when obvious signs that it was coming to a crash. I held on nonetheless, but ultimately lost almost all my investment value (fortunately I have also sold some of it beforehand).
I consider that an addiction, or at least, addictive behavior. It is very hard to see my own flaws in blindly believing what the news says, what everyone says about crypto about the future, that if it is going down means you should double down on buying more.
Perhaps I see a similar pattern here. Many people have tendencies to fall into this kind of addictive behavior. Whether they are lonely, feeling the world is against them, or feeling like a failure. They are most certainly the easiest crowd to be convinced of such lies that "the only path to true peace and prosperity is to get rid of the other side". Maybe a lot of them are still riding the high wave, and if 2016 was not enough, 2024 comes a new high wave. They are not completely wrong. They are simply misguided. Just like crypto cycles, tyrannical political cycles go very high and then crashes, then it comes back up even higher than before, only to crash even harder.
Those are caught in the wave cannot possibly see there is a day where all of these is over. Crypto, surprisingly, isn't over, yet. But it may soon, too. It took me 3 years to completely abandon my beliefs about crypto currency, thanks to very painful losses. Unfortunately, many people need to start feeling the pain, and perhaps for a long time before they will reconsider their beliefs. We are seeing signs of it - people voicing their concerns on both sides, and the economy which is affecting everyone.
I hope it will be a fast ride because the sooner we all can wake up and abandon false beliefs, the sooner we can start building towards a better world. Time will tell, but I agree that we absolutely need a Supermajority (2/3) of people to stand strong, vote, participate, and start making changes, from the small ones to the very top of the power structure.
